Speaker 1 00:00:03 Hey guys, welcome to another episode of Moving to Maryland. I'm here with Nick and Megan. Hey guys. Hello. Today we're talking about a great neighborhood, Patterson Park. Nick, if you had to describe where it was located, how would you do with that? Speaker 2 00:00:15 Patterson Park? Patterson, Speaker 1 00:00:17 Yeah. Know Speaker 2 00:00:17 Patterson Park easily. Um, so obviously you can't live in the park. So Patterson Park basically is everything that is of the northern border of the park. So you have Baltimore Street, which is the northern end up to Fayette, and then on the east and west it blurs its lines both to Butchers Hill and Highland Town to the east. Speaker 3 00:00:35 Right? Yeah. And I mean, it's, it's really good access to all the other neighborhoods, like you said, butchers Hill, Highlandtown, but also very close to Canton in Fells Point as well. Speaker 1 00:00:44 Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, and I mean, we argued for 20 minutes on the border between Highlandtown and Park <laugh>. Right. So you go on Google, it's one thing you go on, um, uh, live Baltimore, it's Speaker 3 00:00:54 Another thing and you ask, uh, like neighbors and it'll be completely different too. Speaker 2 00:00:57 Yeah. All the lines are blurred. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:00:58 And it's, that's, that's part of Baltimore when you're surrounded by other neighborhoods close to a great park. So, um, you know, when I think of Paris Park, the neighborhood, of course you think of Paris Park, the park of course one of the huge draws of Paris Park. Right? Speaker 3 00:01:12 Absolutely. I mean, I love the park. We not, I mean, I play volleyball there. I've talked about this probably 18 times already, but I play volleyball there, um, with volleyball and Patterson, but there's also Volo leagues there. They do kickball, softball. You have a ice skating rink, a dog park. There is just endless opportunities to just enjoy the green space in Baltimore there. Speaker 1 00:01:34 And then, you know what's really cool about Patterson Park too? You wouldn't think it being kind of centrally located, but you got great access, easy ways to get to, to the highways, right? Speaker 2 00:01:44 Yeah. I mean, going Baltimore Street and Fayette, which are the, you know, the, the borders of the neighborhood. You go west, you go right into downtown, go on 83, you just go east a little bit and then you're right on to 95 and 6 95. So it's very easy because you're right through thorough fares that gets you anywhere you really Speaker 3 00:02:02 Want to go. Yeah. And it's a good spot for, uh, medical, uh, doctors or professionals for Johns Hopkins, university of Maryland. Exactly. And baby. And also, right, exactly. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Speaker 1 00:02:12 Yeah. The, uh, of course it's, it's walkable like a lot of the city neighborhoods, um, little, little more removed. We talk about, we were talking about Butchers Hill last week and com saying it's like a step away from all the action in Fells Point. Well, this is like another step away. Speaker 2 00:02:26 Two steps. Speaker 1 00:02:27 Two two steps, steps. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:02:28 Yeah. Yep. Exactly. Cuz you have Highlandtown right there, which everything that they have to offer, you know, butchers Hill too, and then the park, and you can walk through the park to get down the Canton. It's only, you know, a five, 10 minute walk through the park to get down to the other side of, of, uh, Canton. Speaker 1 00:02:44 Right. Yeah. And, and, um, what I love about, I love a lot of things about Paris Park. It's very diverse, uh, uh, neighbors. It's, uh, and then the programming in the park is very diverse. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> and, uh, you know, you have all of the, the big, uh, festivals, the Latino festival, the Polish Festival, all of the festivals are in the park and it brings people from all over the place. You know, it's real really awesome. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:03:09 In terms of hub of culture and excitement and, and things to do, which is great. Speaker 3 00:03:13 Yeah. It says you can never run outta things to do in Patterson Park. Speaker 1 00:03:16 We talked about this when we talked about Butchers Hill, but when there's concerts at the park at the Pagoda, you just have all the great neighbors come down from Paris Park, you have all the, um, it reminds me of the movie of the Warriors. Everybody, all the gangs came out, gangs of neighbors. Right. Uh, to see Speaker 2 00:03:33 You have the pill bottles on your fingers, Speaker 1 00:03:36 <laugh> come out and, uh, you know, being involved in that. And I lived on Eastern Avenue for many years on, on the southern part of the park, and, uh, just phenomenal gathering of all the communities together. And there were no gang fights, but it's Speaker 3 00:03:50 Always good. Speaker 1 00:03:50 Yeah, yeah. Yeah. The cantons versus the <laugh>. Uh, so, uh, there are some spots in Paris Park. You don't have to walk to Highland Town or Butchers Hill to get to a, a restaurant or a nice spot. Right. Speaker 3 00:04:04 Yeah. I, I mean, I always love Patterson Public House and also kind of like a hole in the wall. Tijuana tacos Tijuana Speaker 2 00:04:11 Spot is awesome. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:04:12 Isn't there like a new place up there recently? That Speaker 2 00:04:15 High time? High time. High time. High time. Yeah. That place is awesome. Really great local spot. It's, it's an awesome place that highlights the good that Baltimore has because it's, it's different. They're their own thing and they're, they love to be in that neighborhood and to, you know, share the great things that they love about it too. And it, it brings a great sense of community and pride being in that neighborhood. Speaker 3 00:04:35 It does. Speaker 1 00:04:36 And you are, you know, I, I, I think of Highlandtown, which we'll talk about on, on another episode mm-hmm. <affirmative>, uh, as such a culturally diverse restaurant scene, you know, all the, all all the things that, that you're, you're, you're, you're like, again, we, we argued over the, over the border, so you're close to all of that. So you can't go without saying like, you know, being, living in Paris Park and all the benefits of being next to the park, and we'll talk about affordability, right? Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, uh, but you have all that like really good access to everything that's is so great about Highlandtown. Speaker 2 00:05:08 Yeah, exactly. Speaker 1 00:05:09 And then you can fight with your neighbors all day long where you live. Highland town. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:05:12 Right. <laugh>, you have to, I mean that's, and that's the Baltimore way. You always gotta fight with your neighbors. Speaker 1 00:05:16 Ah, Speaker 2 00:05:17 <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:05:19 That's not the Baltimore Speaker 2 00:05:20 Way. Uh, no, I'm just making a joke. Speaker 1 00:05:22 Uh, ju just your neighbors. Speaker 2 00:05:24 Yeah. J honestly, just my neighbors. Speaker 3 00:05:25 No. So I think for Patterson Park, it, although there are some restaurants, I do find it a little bit more of a residential neighborhood. Um, and I think the, even though it's more residential, you still have amazing access. And the reason people live there is for Patterson Park. Um, but also I think we were talking about is affordability. You are able to kind of have access to Butchers Hill, Canton, Highland Town and Patterson Park, but have really good affordability in purchase homes that, you know, are really, you know, know mid 300 s low 300 s as well. Even even two fifties even. Exactly. Speaker 2 00:06:01 Even the ones we're in the ones depends you can find exactly. Good renovation mix opportunities Yeah. In, in the mid to low one hundreds. And then you can find something that's extremely livable in, in the, the low to mid twos. Right. Speaker 1 00:06:15 All, all day long. You know, there's a dramatic difference in, uh, average price, uh, from Butchers Hill up in, into Patterson Park mm-hmm. <affirmative>. And that's the benefit. And what's really cool, uh, uh, is there's so many, uh, community associations up in that area as well that are really involved in the community and, uh, brings that, that, you know, um, just really strong advocacy about the neighbors and the residents and things of that nature. Speaker 3 00:06:40 Yeah. I have a friend who lives on St. Streeter Street, and it has kind of like the brick road, but they all have string lights throughout the alleyway or like, kind of that side street mm-hmm. <affirmative> and they have their own Facebook group. Like they, it just, each street has its own kind of feel. Stop it. Yeah, exactly. And it's just, you look out for each other and it's just a really awesome community. Speaker 2 00:07:02 Yeah, it is. My friend lives on, on North Linwood, just north of the park, Cady Corner, and they're actually, their favorite day of the year is, is the, the marathon because the runners go right up their street, and so they Oh, nice. All pull out their chairs, they bring out coolers, they cheer the runners on. Everybody's out. And it's, it's such a great camaraderie. We did it this last year, 2022 when they did the marathon. We all stayed up and, you know, 6:00 AM the runner started going by and it was, it was really fun. It's a, it's a great little community, like you said, that everybody just really has a lot of pride and enjoys where they live, and they have a lot of fun doing it. Yeah, Speaker 1 00:07:37 Yeah. No, it's, um, you know, a some of my closest friends live up there and, uh, yeah, I think of Paris Park as just tight knit. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. It's really a good way to, to explain it. So we are all real estate agents. We are with the Greatest Moves team, uh, re max Manage Realty. We're located in Fells Point, just a couple minutes away from Paris Park. So if you're interested in any of these neighborhoods, Paris Park, butchers Hill, Highland down, any of the surrounding neighborhoods or any of the neighborhoods in Baltimore City, we'd love to help out, reach out to us.
