Speaker 1 00:00:03 Welcome to another episode of Moving to Maryland. Today we're gonna talk about our favorite restaurants in Locus Point, but before we get into the restaurants, Nick, why don't you explain to people a little bit about the scene in Locus Speaker 2 00:00:13 Point? So, locus Point's much more of a chill residential neighborhood. You know, it's on the most southern part of the peninsula, so it's, you know, a close drive to Federal Hill and everything. But it's, you know, really, really quaint, really suburban. So they have really nice great corner neighborhood spots, but also still close by and technically Locust Point, there's a lot of major options as well, closer to the Federal Hill border. Speaker 1 00:00:38 Awesome. And Caitlin, what would you say one of your favorite places in the Locus Point is? Speaker 3 00:00:42 Uh, well, I would say ECU is like one of my favorite spots in the city, and now they just opened a location in Locus Point, so I would have to say that that is always gonna be my Speaker 1 00:00:54 Favorite nominated for it. James Beard Award. Speaker 3 00:00:56 Yep. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Absolutely. They're, um, fried chicken is incredible. The tofu amazing. The temp of broccoli. That's a real sleeper. Oh, yes. Really? Wouldn't have thought, but I mean, Speaker 1 00:01:07 Well, I think the, uh, with the little bit of sausage they put in there Speaker 3 00:01:10 Oh, the cha. Speaker 2 00:01:11 Yes. It makes you eat your veggies. Yeah. Speaker 4 00:01:12 Doesn't get better than that. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:01:14 What about you, Jess? Speaker 4 00:01:15 Uh, my favorite spot would be, it's actually a little bit outside of Lucas Point, but it would be Nick's Fish house. Okay. Have one of the best all show crab cakes I've ever had there. Speaker 1 00:01:24 Yeah. And so it, it, it, in, in, um, where, where it's located, uh, I would say that Federal Hill might claim that area. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> Locus Point might claim that area. Right. Speaker 4 00:01:33 Just a little bit more Southern Speaker 1 00:01:34 Port, port Covington now called the Peninsula. Yep. Yep. And, uh, what about you, Nick? Speaker 2 00:01:39 Himalaya house is definitely probably my favorite. It's a spot right on Ford Avenue right across from Latrobe Park. So it's, you really can't miss it, but it's very inconspicuous. Um, it's a great family run restaurant, super knowledgeable staff. It's eat in or takeout. It's just a nice little neighborhood place and it's, my friend actually recommended it to me and it was my first introduction into Himalayan and Nepalese food. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, and it's awesome. I can't recommend it enough. Speaker 1 00:02:08 Yeah. I think 11 them 57 Bar in Kitchen is one of my favorites. The food's just, uh, really good. It's a small place, it's not, doesn't have, uh, a lot of seating, but, uh, the food's really good. You know, I've been going to, uh, whole Street Blues Cafe Classic. Yeah. Many years drive across from Canton. That was, you know, back in the, uh, late nineties actually. It was like, you know, something we would drive for. They had a great breakfast brunch. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, um, that whole setup. What, what about you, Josh? Any others you can think of that you think you really enjoyed? Speaker 4 00:02:35 Um, so I'm actually very envious of the people who reside in the Anthem apartment building. Um, only because they have Amber, um, the restaurant, Amber, they also also have, and what's that like? That's, uh, more of like American cuisine. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, um, hamburgers are really good. Uh, just in the same, so in the same building, they have lemon cell, which is more Italian cuisine, and also they have Taco Mama, which is, is, uh, Mexican. Speaker 1 00:03:00 Yeah, that's a, that's definitely a hot location. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:03:02 Lemon, lemon Cello is, is a really awesome restaurant. It's Sicilian style food, so it's a lot of seafood based dishes for people who kind of don't really stand seafood, but they do have a lot of other things. But they're homemade pastas, pizzas from scratch, great staff. The decor in that place is so cool. And they have an outdoor seating patio. For what, especially now when the weather's nice, you can eat outside. It's, they have this one, it's like Pepper Deli, zarella. That's what I, I would always get every time it's, yeah. It's crab in like a saffron cream sauce. It's, it's to die for literally. Speaker 1 00:03:36 Yeah. And that is really right on the border. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> of, uh, federal Hill Locust Point. Right. Yeah. So we talk about this in all the neighborhoods, and we talk about restaurants. I mean, you can get to some of the Federal Hill restaurants we've, we've talked about in some other episode mm-hmm. In the Federal Hill episode. But, um, literally right there at the border, you also have, um, what the oyster, the, the big oyster local Oyster Speaker 2 00:03:56 Local Local Speaker 1 00:03:57 Oyster. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> just open. They've been working on that place for a while. Yep. Yeah. Um, their, their food's really good. Speaker 2 00:04:02 Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, you also have right across the street, Wiley Gunther's, which is like a really kind of like art, like the best way I can not say artisan, but funky sandwich shop, great beers on tap, great specials, great burgers, everything you can think of. And then on the other side of South Side Marketplace, which is kind of your main shopping center for people who, you know, grocery Shop is a new restaurant that opened last year called Copper Shark. Mm. It's a little bit more upscale. So it's, it's great for date night. It's great if you have like, parents or family coming in, but the, the food is absolutely wonderful. Speaker 1 00:04:34 It's where the wine bar used Speaker 2 00:04:36 To be. It's where, yeah. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, it's where a wine bar used to be. And they are, they're really known for, just like, they have these seared scallops, which are just like, awesome. They do a big, like 32 ounce tomahawk steak for two that you can do. Geez. <laugh>. Like, it's really like, it's very upscale food. It's a great, it's a great spot. Speaker 1 00:04:55 Yeah. No, that sounds great. Uh, another place didn't think of off the top of my head, but I, I, I really love Barracudas and now it burnt down and then they rebuilt it over the last year. It's Speaker 2 00:05:06 Back. Speaker 1 00:05:06 Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Yeah. Billy's Barracudas if you guys haven't been I love it. Yeah. Just it's, uh, uh, it's just a classic Baltimore Corner bar. Great. Like, uh, it's like a, a cheers, you know, like everybody knows everybody in there. Yeah. Food's really, really good. Speaker 2 00:05:23 They have, the great part about it is they have a really big menu, so they have something for everybody and they do specials every day. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. So they, they come up with whatever they decide to, and whatever you get there is good. Speaker 4 00:05:35 Mm. Speaker 1 00:05:36 Yep. Got the Iron Rooster. Speaker 4 00:05:38 Can't forget the Iron Rooster aims for the Tartes. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> Daily. Speaker 1 00:05:42 Three three, uh, pop cart, pop. I love, we, so we go to the Iron Rooster, oh God, probably like two or three times a month. And, um, my, uh, wife sent me a picture. Her and my son went to the Iron Rooster, uh, last weekend. And I, I wasn't there and she sent a picture, uh, cuz she always gets the kids' meal for our two year old mm-hmm. <affirmative> that comes with a Pop Tart and I always eat as Poptart. Speaker 4 00:06:03 Is it like half a Pop Tart or is it, they still give you the whole Poptart. Speaker 3 00:06:06 Those are big Poptarts. Speaker 1 00:06:07 Yeah, I know. Yeah. It's like a, it's like a, it's like a small pop tart in the kids' meal. They, um, and uh, so she sent a picture of Flynn enjoying the Poptart for the first time with without his dad there, Speaker 3 00:06:17 <laugh>. Aw, well Speaker 2 00:06:18 I'm giving you some serious fomo. Yeah, Speaker 4 00:06:20 Yeah, I bet. After all that trigger, he was ready to hit David Busters. Speaker 2 00:06:23 <laugh>. Uhhuh Speaker 1 00:06:24 <laugh>. Yeah. We, yeah, we, we hit David Busters, uh, quite a bit. So, um, what about, um, some of your other favorites, Nick? Speaker 2 00:06:32 So like, a good classic, um, for, for me is City Limits. Um, it's a great neighborhood bar, um, you know, just kind of bar food, but it's really nice. You have indoor outdoor seating, but it's become kind of a staple because it's also right across the street from La Trope Park. Yeah. So Monday nights we play soccer at Latrobe, and then everybody, once the games were over, just walk right across the street, have a couple drinks, maybe grab a bite, um, and do that really good food. Good, you know, they have a little bit of everything. Um, but a great place to hang out. Speaker 1 00:07:04 We have some, uh, really good friends that, uh, every, every time we go over to hang out with them, we, we go eat at city Limits. Mm-hmm. And, uh, it's a big, spacious place. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Um, definitely got some elbow room in there. Some, yeah. Some of, you know, some of the city places are smaller, narrow mm-hmm. <affirmative> kinda thing, so For Speaker 3 00:07:18 Sure. Speaker 1 00:07:19 Yeah. Really like that. Speaker 3 00:07:20 Yep. I would say also, can't forget about Peppa Flame got really good Caribbean food, jerk chicken, something a little bit different. I think that that's the only Caribbean spot in Locust Point specifically. So if you're looking for, you know, that kind of spicy switching Caribbean experience, that's, that's the spot for sure. Speaker 1 00:07:43 Taco Mama's got some really good tacos and, uh, Mexican food. Speaker 4 00:07:46 Yeah. Enchiladas, quesadillas, you name it. The whole Speaker 1 00:07:49 <laugh>. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Yeah. If you think of neighborhoods like, uh, fells Point, you know, uh, in, in, uh, upper Fells Point, you might have like 15, uh, Mexican food places are Spanish food places and not a lot of offerings in Locus Point for Mexican food, but, uh, yeah, they, they have some really good, I've done lunch there a few times and it turned out really good. Any other, uh, favorites you can think of? Speaker 4 00:08:11 Um, McDonald's has some really good apple pies as well. <laugh>, Speaker 3 00:08:14 <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:08:15 Hey, if you're, if you're a McDonald's, uh, fan, that's one of the few McDonald's in Olive of, uh, right there. Southside Shopping Center, right? Speaker 3 00:08:23 Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Yep. Yep. Speaker 1 00:08:24 So known for their apple pie. Yeah. So Caitlin, Nick, Josh, myself, we're all real estate agents with the Greatest Moves team.
