Speaker 1 00:00:03 Welcome to another episode of Moving to Maryland. Today we're gonna talk about Remington, a really cool and quirky neighborhood in the center of Baltimore City. Hey guys. Hey. Good afternoon. Hi. So this is Kurt, Caitlin and Megan. Yes, by the way, and Kurt, you live close by Remington. Where, how would you describe where it's located?
Speaker 2 00:00:20 Uh, it's nestled between Charles Village, Johns Hopkins University in Hampton, uh, and 83. It's super, super convenient. Midtown Baltimore, if you will.
Speaker 3 00:00:30 So yeah, you have great access to 83, um, so you can get to downtown and or Towson Hunt Valley, and also good access to Howard and M L K, you know, so it's really a good spot. Yeah, super centrally located, really. Oh, not to mention it's very close to Penn Station,
Speaker 2 00:00:45 <laugh>.
Speaker 4 00:00:45 Good point,
Speaker 1 00:00:46 Good point. Caitlin, you've spent a lot of time at Remington, haven't you?
Speaker 3 00:00:49 Yeah, absolutely. Um, I, I used to live just a few blocks over. Um, our house I think is one of my favorite parts of Remington. Like, you can go there with anyone in, there's something for everyone because it's the food hall kind of atmosphere. So that's like a really great asset in the neighborhood, I think. Yeah. Yeah. I love our house.
Speaker 1 00:01:07 Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Oh, it's great if you're in that area around lunchtime. Mm-hmm.
Speaker 3 00:01:10 <affirmative>. Oh my God. It's, it gets so packed there,
Speaker 1 00:01:13 <laugh>. It's, you know, I would say that's like my second favorite thing. My, my first favorite thing about Remington is Wyman Park. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Yes. Yeah. Never spending time in Wyman Park.
Speaker 3 00:01:22 Absolutely. It's beautiful.
Speaker 1 00:01:24 Yeah. So I used to cycle cross race, and I would ride up into the park and we would do practice through that park. And I tell you, Remington or any of the neighborhoods around there, you, you know, you have Charles Village, you have, um, of course Hamden, uh, have you rid a bike through any of those neighborhoods? Anybody?
Speaker 3 00:01:40 I don't have a bike. So no <laugh>,
Speaker 4 00:01:42 <laugh>,
Speaker 1 00:01:45 Uh, and you can't do it on your Peloton.
Speaker 2 00:01:48 What I found interesting about Remington in general is that, you know, I, I live in Hamden for a long time, and I always had this just casual observation. Like, it's between Charles Village and Hamden. It's a perfectly fine neighborhood. Why is it not more popular in real estate terms? And then the developers of our house, you know, saw something that obviously no one else did, says This is a great spot. And that was the spark that, in my humble opinion, that really started the, the upswing in interest in Remington as a neighborhood in a lot of investor activity. I think Megan stalk, she's worked with some folks in there. Um, and that in itself is kind of like a, a little trigger, which started things in Remington.
Speaker 3 00:02:31 Yeah. There's definitely a boom of development over there. Still has that very, uh, artistic vibe, very eclectic. A lot of artists, musicians living over there. Um, and you've have kind of the same vibe in terms of restaurants and shops like WC Harlan, which is such a cool little speakeasy cocktail spot. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, um, Cleves. But you have a lot of like, local business and shops there too, which is awesome. Yeah. And then if you like art, there's also the Baltimore Museum of Art is right there mm-hmm. <affirmative>, which is a fantastic resource. It's a free museum, it's a great time, and just a beautiful, beautiful
Speaker 2 00:03:04 Place. And John Waters has an exhibit there, and John Waters lives in a neighborhood, presumably, I don't know for sure. Not too far from Remington.
Speaker 1 00:03:12 I first found Remington through the auto bar, and I've seen so much good live entertainment. Yeah.
Speaker 3 00:03:17 My friend plays there
Speaker 1 00:03:18 Sometimes, so a eighties dance party I've, I've been to there. And, um, then also, you know, actually before that Paper Moon Diner. Oh,
Speaker 3 00:03:26 It is so cool there. Yeah. Yes. Everybody needs to go. Yeah.
Speaker 2 00:03:30 Yes. Good time
Speaker 3 00:03:31 Institution, all the out of town guests there. You gotta see, you know, the inside of that diner. It's cool. Incredible. Yeah. Really
Speaker 1 00:03:39 Cool. And there are so many Korean barbecues in that general area right there. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, that's, um, I, I, it's, I'm confused whether they're actually in Remington or right next to Remington
Speaker 2 00:03:49 Station, north
Speaker 1 00:03:50 Station North. They're right in the border, right? Yeah,
Speaker 2 00:03:52 Yeah, yeah. There is great Korean food there.
Speaker 1 00:03:54 But it, so, you know, uh, it reminds me of Highlandtown a little bit, you know, like Highlandtown next to Canton, like, like, uh, Remington next to, um, uh, Hamden. Oh, Hamden, I'm sorry. Um, and then just good value, like, you know, people mm-hmm. Were, were buying and the, and the, the prices were less expensive. They've, it's gone up, hasn't it? Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Yeah,
Speaker 3 00:04:17 It has, I think it's like, if you're looking for the kind of vibe, similar vibe to Hamden, Remington's a good option. And it's still, still reasonably priced, I'd say. Like for investors, I, I work with a lot of investors down there, but on Miles Street specifically, and those houses are like less than a thousand square feet. They're very cute, but you can get them for sub 100,000 and then, you know, renovate and flip them. And I mean, that is just goldmine for a lot of people.
Speaker 2 00:04:45 There are some really good looking houses there in the, there are north side, you know, and the low to mid threes. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> sincerely. So it's, there's value, like you said, like how, how Highland town, same with Remington. Yeah, yeah,
Speaker 1 00:04:57 Definitely. And you know, one thing I don't think we've touched on is like the walkability of Remington. It's not gonna have, um, everything condensed on like the avenue. It's a little spread out, wouldn't you? Said?
Speaker 3 00:05:08 Yes, 100%. There's no like main strip mm-hmm. <affirmative>, um, it's more spread out, which I think has, it's like, adds to its quality. Mm-hmm.
Speaker 1 00:05:18 <affirmative>. Yeah. So I, I would say, uh, generally when I think of Remington is it's, uh, got a lot of flavor just like Hamden does, but it's a little more affordable.
Speaker 2 00:05:28 Agreed. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 00:05:29 Yeah. So the four of us are real estate agents with the greatest Moves team at Re Max Advantage. And Kurt, Caitlin, Megan, myself, would love to show you around Remington, Hamden, any of those neighborhoods, uh, in that area or, uh, around the beltway. Uh, so give us a call. See you next episode. Take care.
